Review: The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II is a computer game in the genre of real time strategy, developed and published by Electronic Arts. The game is based on the novels of Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogy and Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" is the sequel to The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, which was published in 2004. The Windows version was released on March 2, 2006, the Xbox 360 version published July 5, 2006. In addition to the standard edition of the Collector was released, which included additional materials and a documentary about the development of the game. Game servers were disconnected in 2010 for Windows and 2011 for the Xbox 360.
In the game The Battle for Middle-earth II, there are two campaigns - for the forces of Light and the forces of Darkness. In light campaign, the main character is an elf Glorfindel, who learns about the planned attack on Rivendell. With the help of the dwarves, and other forces of good elves are trying to destroy Sauron's army to return to Middle-earth world. In the darkness of his campaign Sauron sends the Nazgul Herald and raise an army to break up the remaining forces of good in the north.
The Battle for Middle-earth II has received mostly positive reviews from gaming critics. Praise awarded adaptation of the universe of "The Lord of the Rings" in the real-time strategy. The negative assessment was unbalanced multiplayer game mode. The Battle for Middle-earth II has received a number of awards, including the selection of IGN editors. In March 2006, the game ranked fourth in sales among personal computer games. For the PC version in November 2006 came addition The Rise of the Witch-king, the game adds a new Angmar faction, new units and a few changes in the gameplay.
